Fan Fiction Basics

This summary is not available. Please click here to view the post.

Douche gave me caffeine

I specifically asked for decaf but the douche at Starbucks must have given me the supercharged stuff because it's 3:30 am and I'm still wide awake.

So what have I been up do?

Why I was making my very first fan video.
Disclaimer: I'm loopy from the caffeine and the late hour so if this sucks I blame the douche @ Starbucks and so should you.

Meet Up and talk Twilight

So today was my first (the group's second) Pasadena Twilight Lovers Book Club meeting, and it was great. If you're in the area and you love Twilight (why else would you be on my random blog?) then come join us.

I made three new friends who share my love of this series and they made a overly obsessed and addicted friend in me. :-)

I don't normally post twice in one day but I had to plug my new group.

It's a slow Twi-news day. I'll just leave you with this nice story.

Merchandise

I love me some Twilight related merchandise. There are some things out there (or coming out soon) that I really need want.

The two guarantees are New Moon: The Official Illustrated Movie Companion and Twilight: New Moon Soundtrack. I've already per-ordered the first and the second I also pre-ordered but Amazon said it wouldn't arrive until the 22nd. Screw that. I cancelled that order and will get it on iTunes on the 20th.

Then there's the stuff in my wish list. In no particular order:

Cardinal Industries Twilight New Moon Game
This is the New Moon board game. They have a Twilight one too but I heard it wasn't that good. If the first one wasn't good then I have mixed feelings about this second one. It's available for pre-order right now so I'll wait until people have actually played and review it to think about buying it.

Scene It? Twilight Deluxe Edition
I really want this! This sounds like lots of fun to play with a bunch of Twilight friends. All I need now are some Twilight friends to play with me. =D

Twi-inspired notepad
This just looks cute and useful. Win win. :-)

The Twilight Saga: The Official Guide
This has been available for pre-order since forever. I have no idea when it's coming out but when it does, I wants it.

The Kindle or the Kindle DX
To read my Twilight books anytime I want without having to carry them around all the time. Plus, you can read PDF files. That means I can put my shit load of fan fics on there and read them away from my computer. Awesome!

I don't own any Twilight related t-shirts yet. I just haven't seen any that isn't cheesy. Plus, I want something that will only shout out my obsession to fellow Twilighters but the rest of the population won't have a clue. I like things like that (ie my Bella charm bracelet).

I'd really like a t-shirt on/about my favorite fan fictions, but it's one of those thing you have to make yourself.

NOTE: There really isn't a reason I put that picture on this post. He's just good to look at.

Encounters with non-Twilight fans

Being a Twi-fan that's "out" (ie: I'm not ashamed to take my Twilight lunch box to work and buy Twilight related magazines even though I'm dogging curious stares like taxis in NY) I get a lot of crap and eye rolls. I roll with it though. They don't know what they're missing.

If I get curious overtures I'm not afraid or ashamed to totally pimp out the books to others. I've gotten a few co-workers hooked and just yesterday gave another the first book with the promise that I'll bring her the second on Tuesday.

It's mostly from my guy friends that most of the banter comes from. One asked me during lunch, eyeing my lunch box, who the Cullens were. Without too much detail I calmly explained that the 300 year old vampire Carlisle is the figurative head of his family who've all adopted his last name of Cullen.

When I wore my Bella charm bracelet the others didn't know what it signified but the fans at work squeed in delight at seeing it.

One time at Borders, I was checking out with a Twilight magazine and the guy behind the register asked,
"Twilight? Really?" (He's wearing an exasperated expression) "Is this for you??"
"Yep!" I smile happily. I'm thinking if I seem normal and nice, this guy will understand that even cool people get addicted to fun stuff like this.
"Ugh!" he exclaimed. (or maybe not?) "Why can't you say it's for your little sister or niece or something?!" "I hate Twilight. I just don't get it." He rants further.n"A guy came in and bought the books and I asked them who they were for and he said they were for himself. I told the dude, 'Dude, you can't tell people that. Say they're for your girlfriend or something,'" he said shaking his head.
Now I've got an incredulous expression plastered all over my face thinking 'What the hell's your problem. Ring me up you douche so I can tear into them already!'
What I say is, "Oh...well... I love them and I'm not ashamed to admit it.. it's like Star Wars... but for chicks." (God I wish I had witty comebacks.)

Now I get a little feeling of trepidation when I buy magazines... I just hope a girl checks me out but if it's a guy I try to think of something to say to him to shame before he shames me.

Whatever. This Halloween, since I work Saturdays, I'm dressing up as Bella (from the New Moon Italy scenes) to work. =D They'll all assume that I'm just wearing normal clothes but the fellow Twi-fans there will get it. That's what matters. I'll take pictures of myself... whether I post them up here or not is another thing. =P

NM OST

Meet Hurricane Bells. A featured artist on the New Moon Original Soundtrack. He's indie, he's new, and he's someone you should listen to right now!

First, listen to some track off of his MySpace
second, Become A Fan on Facebook
then while you're listening to The Winters In New York on repeat
read the interview he gave to Entertainment Weekly then
finally hop on over to a Live Journal's Twilight community lion_lamb and post questions you want him (Steve, the guy behind Hurricane Bells) to answer. Read his interview that he gave them here. (They used some of the questions I asked! Woot!)

I've done this, and so should you. Trust me. He's pretty good.

On a completely non-Twilight related rant...

Why the hell is it always so friggin' cold in coffee shops?! I'm @ Coffee Bean right now sucking on my second tea and using their free Wi-Fi because, mysteriously, my house is the only house on the block to not have power. No lights. No internet! Gasp!

The hell with that, so I packed up my laptop and headed down here. I had to check the Twi blogs (my life revolves around Twilight...even in my non-Twilight related rants it finds a way in).

I'd go outside where it's a balmy 72 as opposed to this 63 degree refrigerator but there's a bunch of posers smoking inside. Thanks, but no. I've got about an hour before they close. I can hang in there. Must blog!

Up 'till now..

There's been a lot of Twi-crack out there, pretty much everyday, for me to drool/squee/swoon to. If you don't know what I'm talking about... well go troll the blogs and find out. There's just too much to link it all!

What I'm most excited about is (in no particular order):
1. My "Bella's charm bracelet" came in the mail today! And of course, I'm wearing it right now. It's cute. I try to keep the charms in full view to flash to other possible Twilighters that 'I am one of you. Talk to me.'

2. The track listings for the New Moon soundtrack was announced today. Excited that MUSE will do a rendition of I Belong To You just for the movie! I was reading the lyrics and some of them are in French! How cool. Then there's The Killers, Bon Iver, Grizzly Bear etc. on the soundtrack too. I can't wait for Oct 22. I pre-ordered it through Amazon but it wouldn't be delivered until the 22nd! As if! I cancelled that and I'll probably download the whole album from iTunes on that Tuesday.

3. The second MeetUp for the Pasadena Twilighters Meeting is next Sunday. I'm looking forward to meeting women obsessed passionate of the series as I am.

4. From the people who brought you The Sexy Stars Of Twilight, they're coming out with a second installment this Friday! mmm... Robert =D~

Oh and I stumbled on this nifty site where you can get info on the clothes worn in the movies and try to 'dress like ___'. I'm going to dress up like Bella for Halloween (New Moon Italy scenes). I've got a green shirt, skinny blue jeans, and I just ordered my KEDS. =D I could totally wear these clothes everyday so it's not really a "costume". Maybe I'll wear it to the midnight show? Possible.

Oh and another thing, it was all over the blogs this morning that they cancelled the London premier of New Moon and will only do a WORLD Premier in LA on Monday, Nov. 16th.

I love the universe and it looks like the universe loves me because I have that Monday off. I am totally going to drive to LA early in the morning... probably by myself, and watch the whole red carpet thing LIVE! I really want to find someone to fan girl with me... =/ Anyone? Anyone?

Right now I'm working on the timing to the subtitles of my Comic Con DVD. They're a bitch to do but I'm determined to have them. Also on the DVD will be the Entertainment Weekly interviews, the press conference panel, a slide show of pictures taken that day, and much more!

Don't worry Lili, I know I promised you a copy. I hope you're patient 'cuz this is taking a long time to do.

A new New Moon Movie Trailer

I went to the movies today to see 9 but when I caught wind that they were showing a new New Moon movie trailer in front of Sorority Row, I knew what I had to do.

I bought a ticket for 9 but snuck into Sorority Row. It was amazing. I tried to record it but towards the end you can hear the theater manager start yelling an announcement. When it finally came to her that no one could hear her over the f*kawesome trailer that was playing, she started to visit each and every person in the theater (about twelve of us) and personally relay her message. That's why the very ending is a bit wobbly and the end of the trailer is cut (there's more after they flash the movie title).

My reaction: I DIED. I thought I might have a heart attack, it was thumping so hard. I couldn't stop the "Holy Fucking Christ"s and replaying Edward taking off his shirt in my head. I was shaking and (I admit) tearing up a bit because I was freaking out. (I have text messages and a voice mail of me to attest to it).

After the trailer played and the manager walked away I waited for a bit and went into the theater showing the movie I actually purchased a ticket for. On my way I saw another theater that was showing Sorority Row in an hour. Coincidence? I don't think so, not in my Twi-verse. I set my phone timer for 50 minutes and in the middle of watching my movie it went off. I quietly left and snuck into the theater I'd passed.

Show time. Round two. This time there was no annoying managers to yell out stuff or try to catch me in the act. I tried recording this trailer. Looking back at it, it cuts off near the end. That's because my batteries died (recording in HD takes a lot of juice).

Anyway, consider my mind blown and my panties combusted.

Note: I'm making the vids private, e-mail me for the link (if I haven't e-mailed you already).

Another Note: I never went back to watch the movie I paid for. I had to go home, watch this over and over again, and upload the videos because this masterpiece needs to be shared.

FUUUCK!

GODDAMMIT!

I missed them!!!

The untagged HAWT Robward Cullinson pictures!!! ROBsessed and other Twiblogs were asked to take down their pictures of Robert that didn't have watermarks/tags on them. They were up for a short period of time and dammit if I didn't just miss the panty melting window of opportunity!

So pissed now.
